Welcome to Research@HSUHK.

The Hang Seng University of Hong Kong is actively building its research strength, visibility, and real-world impact. This is not the work of any single member or unit, it is a collective effort that draws on the dedication of our scholars, the energy of our students, the initiative of our Schools and research centres, and the partnerships we continue to grow locally, regionally, and internationally.

Our mission is straightforward: we are to create the infrastructure in which high-quality research can thrive. That means detailed direction, friendly support systems, appropriate governance, high ethical standards, on-time communication of funding opportunities, effective coordination and help foster collaboration across disciplines and schools. It also means cultivating a culture in which colleagues feel supported to ask important questions, build distinctive strengths, and turn knowledge into insights that matter — whether in academia, professional practice, public policy, or society.

To strengthen HSUHK's research impact, several priorities stand out. We need to improve the quality and competitiveness of our research proposals and, subsequently, external funding success. We should encourage interdisciplinary and transdisciplinary work. University-level and School-level research centres need to continue to develop. Knowledge exchange and applications, policy impact, industry engagement, and community partnerships deserve stronger emphasis. Ethical and responsible research conduct remain essential, especially in an environment rapidly reshaped by artificial intelligence, data, and new technologies. At the same time, research must stay closely connected to both undergraduate and postgraduate education, with more opportunities for students to take part and with stronger pathways for the next generation of research talents.

Impactful research demands cultivation. It needs time, resources, infrastructure, and leaders who value both excellence and commitment. In today's complex environment, the real test of university research goes beyond the volume of output. It is the totality of contribution we make — to knowledge, to teaching and learning, to professional practices, to public policy, to industry innovation, and to societal well-being. This website is more than a repository of information. It is an open door to collaboration, discovery, and impact.

I encourage colleagues to keep their research profiles current, share their achievements, seek new partnerships, and make full use of the support available. External partners are equally welcome to explore opportunities with talents in HSUHK to co-create lasting academic and social value.
