Prof. David Mills from the University of Oxford Delivered a Postgraduate Students' Seminar and Participated in the Roundtable Discussion at HSUHK

Graduate School of The Hang Seng University of Hong Kong (HSUHK) was honoured to host Prof. David Mills, Associate Professor and Director of the Centre for Global Higher Education (CGHE) at the University of Oxford, for an enriching day of academic exchange. The visit included a postgraduate students' seminar and participation in a roundtable dialogue with emergent scholars and faculty members, fostering collaboration in research and international education. The visit was supported by the Asia Pacific Higher Education Research Partnership (APHERP).

 
 

On 2 December 2024, Prof. Mills delivered an insightful talk titled "Africa-China Doctoral Mobility and University Research Cultures in Ghana, Ethiopia, and Tanzania". The session, which took place at the M+ Tower and around 110 participants attended the seminar.

In his presentation, Prof. Mills discussed the growing role of Africa-China doctoral mobility programs, focusing on their impact on research cultures in Ghana, Ethiopia, and Tanzania. He highlighted how these postgraduate programmes are enhancing research capacity and promoting cross-cultural exchanges between African and Chinese institutions. Prof. Mills also addressed the challenges and opportunities of these collaborations, particularly in academic integration, knowledge transfer, and research infrastructure development. During the seminar, students were actively engaged, asking insightful questions and contributing to a lively Q&A session that enriched the discussion.

Following the seminar on 3 December, Prof. Mills participated in a roundtable discussion with faculty members from HSUHK, Lingnan University, and the Education University of Hong Kong (EdUHK) on Research and International Collaboration Opportunities. This session provided a platform for scholars and researchers from different institutions to exchange ideas, explore collaboration opportunities, and discuss the future of research partnerships at both regional and global levels.
